You do not need to register to use our free services. If you want to use the commercial databases like newspapers and magazines, then you will need a userid and password. If you register and then search the commercial databases, you will be invoiced at the end of the month for any searches and views you have done.

If you are already registered to search the newspapers and magazine archives, go straight to the Databases page and click on Newztext. You will then be asked for your userid and password.
New users should read further on this page and register for a userid and password.

Knowledge Archives

The Knowledge Archive is a database of indexed information which is updated dynamically in real-time. You can use the Knowledge Basket search interfaces to compose a search, and run the search against any of the Archives on our system.

This means you will have to pay for any information you print, view or download.

Terms & Conditions

1. Charges

The Customer agrees to pay for services provided at the rate from time to time shown on the Knowledge Basket Services Price List.

2. Payment

The Customer is billed monthly. Payment must be made within 21 day of receipt of invoice.

3. Systems equipment

The Customer is responsible for providing computer equipment and communication links and for ensuring systems compatibility.

4. Copyright

The Knowledge Basket provides access to databases copyrighted by the database publishers. Accordingly, customers must abide by current copyright laws.

5. User identity

The Customer will be issued an identification number allowing access to the service and is liable to any charges against that number.
Access via the identification number can be canceled by telephone with written confirmation, and a new identification number will then be issued.

6. Indemnity

The Knowledge Basket provides information subject to the specific restrictions and disclaimers by the database publishers, and the Customer agrees to be bound by those limitations. The Customer assumes sole responsibility for all use of the information supplied and agrees to indemnify the Knowledge Basket from any liability or claim of any person arising from the information supplied and any infringement of copyright or breach of any restrictions applicable.

The Knowledge Basket makes no representation as to the correctness, completeness, currency or fitness for any purpose of the information.

The Knowledge Basket will not be responsible for any damages to or loss suffered by the customer whatsoever arising from the service or from the information supplied whether arising from negligence or otherwise, beyond, at the option of the Knowledge Basket, either supplying the services again or refunding cost of the original supply.

The Knowledge Basket does not promise that access to the services will always be immediate or uninterrupted.

The Knowledge Basket is not responsible for telecommunication links connecting the user to the service.

The Knowledge Basket is not responsible for changes relating to the availability, content and publisher's conditions attached to services.

7. Modification of terms

The terms and conditions of this agreement and the services to be provided may be changed by 30 days written notice on our website with regard to:

a) price changes
b) changes to terms and conditions
and thereafter shall be binding on both parties.

8. Termination of agreement

The Knowledge Basket may terminate this agreement at any time by giving written notice. The Customer may terminate this agreement at any time by giving written notice.

9. Assignment

The Customer may not assign this agreement.

10. Entire agreement

This records the entire agreement between the parties except as provided for in paragraph 7 (modification of terms). No provision shall be waived and no charge binding on the Knowledge Basket unless in writing signed by both parties.

11. Governing law

The validity, interpretation and enforcement of this agreement shall be governed by the laws of New Zealand.

12. Notices

The address for notice is the address set out on the first page unless written notification of change has been given by either party to the other.
